Finding Love in An Age of Technology
Professor Jean Liu
The final project in this class was a group project that consisted of producing a website on the science of love in the time of technology, love that one finds through iPhone applications and GPS data, instant messages, and meetups. The website is strongly embedded in academic evidence that is presented in a visually compelling, simple, and engaging way so that it can be used by researchers and the public alike. The website talks about everything that could affect how two people fall in love through online dating: evolution, height, attitudinal similarity, alcohol, the colour of clothing, and even menstrual cycles. The ultimate goal was to discover what predicts a swipe, or in other words, what the secret sauce of attraction is.
The website is here and the full text of the assignment given by Prof. Liu to organize students’ work is here.
