Week 7 and Cognitive Psychology

Professors Lawrence Ypil, Taylor Mali, and Chris Asplund

In this class activity, students are asked to write a poem in which every line starts with “I remember”, and in which they think about their memories in different times of their life. The goal of this exercise is to understand what memory is, how memory works and forgetting happens, characteristics and differences between short-term and long-term memory, and the process through which short term-memories become long-term ones. In this process, students also discuss forgetting, and why it is often useful. The prompt of this activity is here.
