Historical Immersion: Geometry and the Emergence of Perspective
Professor Francesca Spagnuolo
This portfolio is an example of a final student assignment, that describes and reflects on themes of geometry, aesthetics, mathematics, measurement, art, and perspective. The goal is not only to document one’s own learning process, but to find connections between topics covered, and expanded during individual and group assignments and exercises during the semester, in a way that is meaningful, and strengthening the understanding of each. The student describes this portfolio as “not only on the intersections of points and lines, but that of art and mathematics, measurement and philosophy, abstract reasoning and the pursuit of truthful depiction.” Topics are explored through Euclidean Geometry, Projective Drawing and Projective Geometry. Attached is the portfolio by Wijaya.
