Urban Agriculture

Professor Marvin Montefrio

In this assignment, students produced blogs with two goals:

  1. documenting their experience farming, and
  2. discussing the future of urban agriculture in Singapore.

For the first set of blog posts (post 1 and post 2), students in the middle of the semester documented their process of learning how to take care of their plots.

The second set of blog posts is an example of the blog post that was the object of the final assignment and that focused on the question: ‘What is the future of urban agriculture?’

In the first blog post, the student describes how strenuous it can be to manage even a small plot of land and the various steps one has to follow to create a seamless farming experience. The blog describes the plethora of conditions and factors that go into farming a piece of land.

A second blog post features a student that explains how urban agriculture is emerging in Singapore, and its future. The blog post further highlights how urban agriculture might change the concerns regarding food security in Singapore. Check it out.
